The Roberts Agency was founded in 1963 by Robert M. Wolcott, who was only twenty-five at the time. At the time, the only employee was a part-time secretary.
The company is unique in the fact that it primarily works in both the construction insurance and surety-bonding fields, and has generated the majority of its sales by being active with construction organizations. The company is continually networking through meetings and serving on committees and boards.
The agency has grown in its operation since its founding. Knowledgeable staff members have been hired in addition to the growth of the Wolcott family. Bob's three children, Paul, Jennifer, and Laura, have shown a strong commitment to the firm. The agency is large enough to provide clients access to many excellent companies, yet small enough to provide individual service.
As one of the first target marketing insurance agencies in Connecticut, The Roberts Agency has evolved customer-oriented centers in areas such as homebuilders, trade contractors, and heavy construction. This allows the development of greater expertise and establishes relationships with the appropriate insurance companies in those fields, better meeting the customers' needs with respect to coverage, price, and service.
